It is characterized by its intertwined lattice work, which represents everlasting life and the three parts that terminate its points represents the holy trinity. The central axis symbolizes the bridge between heaven and earth, while the four arms embody the four Gospels. The intricate lattice-like patterns also represent the interconnectedness of humanity and divinity. The cross universally is a symbol of the crossroads, intersecting consciousnesses and dimensions, and the choices we make in life. The cross is omnipresent in Ethiopia, being worn and sometimes tattooed on people everywhere, as a constant reminder to be faithful and to protect against evil.
